The Quality Teacher Crisis: Arizona's Response
(2007 Report)

The Teacher Education Partnership Commission (TEPC) recognizes that there is a need for all educational institutions to evolve and adapt to challenges facing teacher recruitment. We hope The Quality Teacher Crisis: Arizona’s Response will assist all education sectors in creating awareness, strengthening guidelines, and providing support for recruitment and retention efforts in Arizona. The recommendations provided in the brief can serve as a blueprint for a comprehensive statewide teacher recruitment plan.

360 Degrees of Childhood

This digest aims to gather in one easy-to-use format some key findings and policy recommendations drawn from a number of research reports one the economic security, health, education, and social behavior of Arizona's children and youth. We hope the public will find it informative. We hope, too, that is proves a timesaving reference tool for thinkers and leaders whose actions count heavily in our children's future-all the educators, policymakers, and business leaders whose dedicated efforts monitor and support the evolving social ecosystem in which Arizona's young people will thrive or fail.

These reports were selected because together they render a 360 degree scan-partial, but broad-of the state of Arizona's young people in 2003. Download

Quality Teacher Preparation Programs: PreK-12

Quality teacher preparation must begin with a well-understood and accepted definition of a ‘Quality Teacher’. In 2002, the TEPC developed a consensus definition of a quality teacher. More recently The National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future (NCTAF) synthesized the core elements of teaching in their 2004 report, No Dream Denied. Both of these documents are consistent with Arizona’s Professional Teaching Standards and align well with other recognized national and state definitions. Download
